Daily Records reports that the 8-day-old twin girls, Lydia and Maya, were separated in a surgery that lasted for 5 hours by Medics and a team of 13 in Bern Switzerland.

The surgery which is said to carry a 1% chance of success had been successful, becoming one of the greatest medical achievements in history.

Swiss media goes on to report that the twins were “extensively conjoined on the liver, but had all vital organs” in complete sets.

The twins are now reported to be doing great, adding weight as well as breast-feeding, following the operation that had taken place on December 10, 2015.
