For those that live in certain areas of Africa, seeing a herd of elephants going by is truly a sight to behold. While they are still largely endangered, African elephants have been slowly making their way back in numbers from the brink of extinction. Though ivory poaching has mostly been the cause of the animal’s decline, habitat loss has also played a major factor. Commercial logging, massive plantations and mining operations have not only destroyed habitat, it has also segmented much of what is left.
Many elephants have learned to be cautious of the dangers of crossing the local roads when looking for food or water. As you are about to see, when one baby collapses, its family immediately springs to action knowing the danger that is near.(via:wimp,KrugerSightings)
